Search by GPI Tree View

The Rx Search section now allows you to find NDCs by browsing the MediSpan database categories, instead of specifying the exact drug and strength. Browsing the categories enables you to find other drugs in the same therapeutic category or GPI. For each category, next to the “ADD TO SEARCH” button, you will see how many NDCs can be retrieved from it. For ease of experience and navigation, all categories are now displayed as a tree view.

How to Search by Therapeutic Category or GPI:

Once the Patient and Provider are selected in the Rx Search section, you can find the option “By Therapeutic Category”.

After selecting “By Therapeutic Category” you won’t need to select the quantity or the Mfg. Package Size. A tree view will be displayed in which you can search for the category of the medication you want to check coverage for.

When you find the category you want to check coverage for, you can add the whole category to the search list, or you can be more specific by expanding the subcategories until you find the right one. Remember each category and subcategory will have the number of medications that will be added to the list at the left of the ADD TO SEARCH button.

If you add a category to search by mistake; or want to shorten the list of medications to check; or if for any other reason you aren’t happy with your list, you can simply use the “Clear All” button to remove all medications from the list. Now you can search for a more specific category.
