How to Use The EZ Therapeutic Interchange (TI) Request

When a script comes in and the user have determined that there are better (covered) medication(s) for the Patient, and/or there are additional (covered) adjunct therapies that would like to recommend to the Provider, the user can use the EZ TI Request to optimize the outcome of this prescription for the Patient.

 

The EZ TI Request can be used to:

  • Replace medications not covered (or poorly covered)

  • Reduce Patient's out-of-pocket expense

  • Record (and improve) adherence 

  • Provide information about covered meds the Provider may be unaware of 

  • Help to improve Patient's overall care and effectiveness of treatment

 

To Modify the Original Prescription Using This Tool:

  1. Run benefits check for the originally prescribed medication(s) 

  2. The NDCs that come back yellow or green will have an EZ TI Request icon to the right of them

  3. Click on the icon next to the medication that you would like to substitute the original medication with, to start the process of generating an EZ TI Request for these medications

Interchange Popup

  1. Once the icon has been clicked, a new popup window will appear indicating which medication(s) will be suggested as a replacement, or as an additional medication to the original prescribed

  2. Select “Additional” (versus “Original”) 

  3. Specify the original medication by typing its name in the designated field

  4. You can also add the original quantity and number of refills here

  5. Once you have filled in the desired fields, click the “ADD TO LIST” button to submit it

  6. This will enable you to continue on with the completion of the form, or you can add as many suggested Interchange medications as needed

How to Add an Additional Medication:

  1. Select the NDC(s) that you want to add

  2. Click on “ADD TO LIST” 

  3. Repeat as needed to add as many as you like

 

How to Edit Medication(s) 

  1. After adding medication(s) to the list, a “TI REQUEST” button will appear at the top-right corner of your screen with a red badge indicating the number of medications currently on the list

  2. Click this button to edit any of the medications on the list

To Remove/Replace Medications

  1. To remove medication(s), select the NDC(s) you’d like removed and click the trash bin icon

  2. You can also replace one medication with more than one other medication.

  3. To confirm changes and continue adding medications to this list, click on “Save” button

How to Submit the EZ Interchange Request:

Once the desired items are all on the list, you will be able to complete the form and review it before submitting, by clicking the “FAX REVIEW” button

You will then be able to input the following information, which will be printed on the EZ TI Request:

  • Pharmacy’s Fax Number

  • Pharmacy’s Phone number

  • Date Written

  • Adherence Notes 

  • Advocacy Notes 

  • Provider’s Fax Number (once this is entered once, it will auto-populate on any subsequent forms for this Provider)

Submitting the EZ TI Request

Once you are confident that all of the information entered is correct, click “SEND” to submit and the EZ TI Request will be sent via fax to the Provider for review and signature.
